Nutrition for Preconditioning
I would like to continue to answer the questions asked by our visitor Mr Paul Miranda about preconditioning. Preconditioning is the period when we select a number of roosters to be conditioned and start preparing them to be conditioned. Nutrition needed here should be balanced, my suggestion is at this period, let us already introduce the feed mixture you will be using for conditioning. It is best not to give our roosters new things, especially a few days before competition.
At this period you should also get them to try your pointing feed. My suggestion is that if the derby you will be competing will be on a Saturday. Fast them and feed your pointing feed on Saturdays to get them use to what will happen on the actual derby day. Our roosters are creatures of habbit and its best that we minimize surprises and changes as best as we could.
My personal take with preconditioning is that this is suppose to be the usual state that our roosters must be in. Meaning to say that anytime you pick up a rooster in your cord area it is in a condition to perform to the best of its natural abilities.
Many gamebird raisers always talk about a portion in the season we call maintenance period. I would like to share my personal opinion on this on my next post.
