Protein
Most of the gamebird raisers are familiar with CP or crude protein, and some of us would even select the feed we use basis the crude protein content. CP is the estimated or probable portion of protein in the feed being given to our roosters. This is done by the nitrogen content being multiplied by 6.25 to give the crude protein levels.
Nitrogen and Protein are 2 different elements. Protein has nitrogen but nitrogen is not protein. Proteins are organic compounds that are made up of amino acids. Technology driven animal nutrition companies dont formulate their feed using crude protein but thru amino acid technology.
Protein is a very vital nutrient that has to be supplied in the feed for there are some amino acids that can't be produced by the roosters. Protein is needed in virtually every process within our chickens. This also acts as the building blocks to produce their muscles, feathers, blood, beak, spurs, nails, antibodies and many other essential components needed in many processes that occur in each and every day of their lives.
