Biosecurity simply means the protection and preservation of life. Life of the animals you raise, the people who raise them, the animals and people around your farm. To be frank, there is still a long way for improvement for gamebird raisers with regards to the practice of Biosecurity. The most common practice we see are placement of foot baths, spraying of foot wear and tires of vehicles and also fencing. But not all farms enforce this things.
Segregation, isolation and quarantine are other methods of ensuring the safety of your health.
Segregation, meaning separating the different phases of your production. Breeding, brooding, ranging, cording and conditioning.
Isolation, keeping a certain section away from the other areas like your hospital area for sick and recovering birds.
Quarantine, to have an area for newly acquired birds, both locally and imported for a minimum of 2 weeks. This practice is also advised for any rooster that has been brought out of the farm even to the cockpits.
